Monday, 5th October 1998 - The end of the Labour Day long weekend, and the faithful packed The Basement club in Sydney, Australia. They came to see and hear Texan troubadour Dale Watson.
Armed with a 'Diamondtina II' model Tomkins guitar, made from the wood of the Australian Ash tree, and backed on this visit by the talents of his 'Aussie Lone Stars', he lived up to the promise of his lyrics...
By this time, Dale had already recorded his album The Truckin' Sessions. However, after taking delivery of his custom-made Tomkins guitar, he liked it so much that went back to the USA and re-recorded all the guitar parts with his new instrument!

Dale's 2001 Tomkins Custom Guitar has a vintage maple neck, a Huon Pine body with tonal cavities and a Silky Oak top with a rustic finish. The pickguard is made from Kangaroo leather and edged with chrome lacing.
